Karolina
Prus

Karolina’s (she/they) passion for music was realized when she first watched the 90s cartoon character Arthur learn to play “Fur Elise” on TV. As a result, she started taking classical piano lessons at the age of 5 and has been on a wild winding musical journey ever since. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Jazz Instrumental Performance, Karolina has been working as a freelance musician, arranger, and teacher in the Chicagoland area. Although her formal training is in Jazz and Classical music, Karolina is most passionate about Latin genres and can regularly be heard playing piano and saxophone with Latin Rock Fusion group, Calaveras LD; Salsa group, Salsa del Norte; and Cumbia group, La Reina Cumbia Band.

Karolina’s educational focus for her students is to help them develop technical fluency on their instrument and inspire them to pursue the music that moves them. She is a huge music theory nerd and believes that understanding the basics of theory can make music much more accessible and enjoyable. Most of all, Karolina is passionate about helping students overcome their individual challenges, develop their unique set of skills, and connect with their own voice.
