Julie Soroko
Julie Soroko (she/her) is an experienced vocalist in multiple genres including musical theater, cabaret, western classical, and a little jazz. She holds a masters degree from Northeastern Illinois University in applied pedagogy, and during her time there, she won the Elyse J. Mach Concerto Competition and presented her thesis on Kurt Weill’s European era. Since graduating, she has made appearances with Great Lakes Operetta, Chicago Cabaret Professionals, Thompson Street Opera, and performed two principal roles with Chicago Summer Opera.
Teaching philosophy is centered around honoring the student’s unique interests and finding their best sounds in a positive, sustainable way. Julie understands firsthand how challenging and insecure the learning process can be, and she strives to balance the hard work with humor and fun. If you haven’t laughed during a lesson with her, she has not done her job!
