Ages 6-9

Prerequisites: none

Tuesdays 4:30-5:15pm @1909 W Byron St

Intro to Drumming is a blast! Join this engaging group class designed for beginner drummers ages 6-9 (Grades 1-3). No experience is necessary, just a love for rhythm and a willingness to learn! Students will build essential skills like stick grip, posture, reading skills, and basic strokes, while developing coordination and a strong sense of rhythm. Using a drum pad, students will work through rhythm drills and group activities. As students progress, they’ll be introduced to the snare drum and eventually the drum set.

This class is the perfect first step before private lessons, giving young drummers the confidence and foundation they need to succeed. Taught by experienced jazz, symphonic, and touring percussionist Pete Tashjian, students will benefit from expert instruction in a supportive and structured environment. Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to move into private drum lessons with a solid understanding of drumming fundamentals.
