Cameren DeCaluwe (he/him) is a Chicagoland native with a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance from DePaul University. During his graduate studies, he studied with Mark Maxwell and performed in multiple masterclasses for Anne Waller and world-renown guitarist, Oscar Ghiglia. In addition to his classical guitar training, he is experienced in wide variety of styles including rock, jazz, and flamenco guitar. Prior to Lyriq, Cameren taught through Flatts and Sharpe Music Co. for 5 years and, in that time, has developed his own teaching method that has proven effective for guitarists of any age, style, or skill level.
For Cameren, teaching is an art that requires special attention to each student’s interests while simultaneously building a comprehensive foundation from which they can branch out into any other style of guitar playing with ease. Cameren’s teaching style draws lessons, techniques, and etudes from a wealth of guitar schools, including Fernando Sor, Dionisio Aguado, Matteo Caracassi, Francisco Tàrrega, Leo Brouwer, and Eduardo Fernández, to create a diverse and inclusive method for studying and perfecting guitar performance.
