Group Violin

Ages 6+

Prerequisites: student must be concurrently enrolled in private violin lesson, finished with Suzuki book 1 (or equivalent method book), and must be able to read music

Wednesdays 5-5:45pm w/ Sam @ 1909 W Byron St

This 45-minute class explores the many skills of ensemble playing such as following tempi, blending sound, creating musical dialogues, playing in harmony, and developing ensemble leadership. Selections from the first two Suzuki violin books serve as the backbone of the repertoire, augmented with other interesting and fun music created specifically for violin and string ensembles. Students are asked to add some additional practice time to their normal routine to help them be prepared each week. The class work culminates in a group performance during the biannual recital.
