Brian Jablo
Brian (he/him) has been teaching music in CPS for more than 20 years, most recently as the music teacher at Jahn School of Fine Arts. Brian has also taught at Moses Montefiore School, a special school for students with severe emotional disorders, and Suder Elementary School. Brian has a bachelor's degree from NIU in political science and a minor in music. Brian received his Master’s in Education from National Louis University.
Brian teaches guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bass, and piano keyboard. His approach to teaching is a combination of traditional techniques (learning sight-reading, scales, etc) with a rock/pop approach (learning chord progressions, and songs the student wants to play). Brian has experience teaching children, teens, and adults with varying levels of proficiency. Brian’s students have performed in rock bands at street festivals, neighborhood, and citywide events. Brian plays guitar, mandolin and bass in local rock band, Beta Dogs. Brian lives in the Rogers Park neighborhood with his wife Anelyn, and kids, Leah and Daniel. He looks forward to making some music with you or your kids!
