Brett Grant

Brett Grant (he/they) began his music instruction began at the age of 5 in the church choir. From the age of 10 onward, he studied a wide array of instruments, ranging from drums and various percussion to piano and guitar. Brett has studied Music Performance at Wilbur Wright College and recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Music in Contemporary, Urban, and Popular Music. During his time at Wilbur Wright College, Brett performed timpani with the Northwest Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and drums and vibraphone with the Wright Jazz Ensemble. During his time at Columbia College, Brett focused on composition and songwriting, while taking performance classes on drums, guitar, and piano.

Brett has a wide range of performance experience stylistically, having performed in orchestras, jazz ensembles, and various rock bands. His range of musical taste is reflected in his songwriting, in which he combines elements of classical theory with popular music. Brett has written and recorded albums with several Chicago-area indie rock bands. Brett has experience teaching students of all ages and focuses on music theory while ensuring his students enjoy and are excited by the pieces they learn.
